Important things you should know about Swifts
Through affiliation to Badminton England, Swifts is fully insured for third-party claims in the event of accidents that occur during training sessions and matches. In order to ensure the protection of its members, Swifts does not play matches at unaffiliated clubs.
Coaching and Qualifications
Swifts currently has nine coaches that are qualified to Badminton England level 2 standard (i.e. fully qualified) and who act as head coach and assistant coaches.
We also have three part-qualified (i.e. level 1 coaches or leaders) acting as coaching assistants.
No other club in Surrey has this level of coaching staff and our programme is second to none.
All our coaching staff and committee members have been vetted with the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). We have a child protection officer and our child protection policies and procedures have been approved by Badminton England as part of our Badminton England Premier Club accreditation.
This season Swifts has more competitive opportunities for its members than ever before. We have normally arrange between 150 and 200 matches annually, which is more than any other four clubs in Surrey taken together. The programme caters for all our players, whether county squad members or not - our stronger teams are entered into the Surrey League while the less strong members play in the Aldershot & Camberley District League - and includes two intra-club tournaments. Unlike many other local clubs we also enter teams into the annual Surrey South Plus club team tournament and the National Junior Badminton League.
Around a third of Swifts members are members of the junior squads of the local counties (usually Berkshire, Hampshire and Surrey), and many current and past members have represented England. Surrey teams are often composed of around 30%-50% Swifts players.
Swifts is the only club in the local area (and one of only two in Surrey) that has been accredited to Badminton England's prestigious Silver Club scheme.
