Weekly training
Our junior badminton club trains at Lightwater Leisure Centre every Saturday morning, with six groups ranging from Beginners to Advanced. Sessions are split by ability to ensure every player can improve at their own pace.
- 8:30–10:00am – Groups 1 & 2 – Beginners & Improvers
- 10:00–11:30am – Groups 3 & 4 – Junior & Intermediate
- 11:30am–1:00pm – Groups 5 & 6 – Emerging & Advanced
Further opportunities
Our year-round programme includes adjusted timings for special events such as tournaments. New members are invited to a taster session, where their ability is assessed; places are then offered based on both suitability and group availability. Due to high demand, we maintain a waiting list for sessions that are full.
In addition, we offer a Wednesday Development Group for selected players by invitation only, providing targeted coaching.
Heritage
Swifts was founded in the 1980s, and has a rich history of success. Our tight-knit community fosters relationships between players, coaches, parents, and carers alike – with many returning to help run the club. Our staff and committee members are predominantly volunteers, giving their time for the benefit of our players. This builds a welcoming and comfortable environment to learn and flourish in the sport.

Swifts is a nurturing community providing positive social and sporting development for members of all ages, also mixing fun games into training sessions – particularly for our younger players.
